TINTING THAT BENEFITS HOMES AND BUSINESSES
As an official Authorized Autobahn Dealer, GT Tinting LLC carries Edge and Hüper Optik architectural films for homes and businesses across Hampton Roads including Hampton, Newport News, Yorktown, Poquoson, Norfolk, Suffolk, Virginia Beach and Williamsburg. Our residential and commercial window film reduces solar heat gain, blocks up to 99% of UV rays, and adds privacy, all without changing how your windows look from the outside.
Beyond comfort and privacy, tinting your windows can meaningfully cut energy costs. By keeping your interior temperature more consistent, your HVAC system doesn't have to work as hard, which means real savings on your electric bill, month after month.
Not every film works with every type of glass and factors like whether your glass is tempered, double-pane, or has a Low-E coating all affect which film is safe and effective. Before recommending anything, our team determines your exact glass type first. From there, based on your goals and your glass, we'll recommend the best options for your home or business, and the final choice is always yours.
Film types we offer:
Not sure which film is right for your property? Here's what each one actually does.
Solar Control
Cuts heat and glare so your AC — and your eyes — don't have to work overtime. Best suited for south- and west-facing windows that catch direct afternoon sun, common across storefronts and homes throughout Hampton Roads.
Privacy
Gives you one-way visibility during the day — you get natural light in, without anyone seeing in from outside. A popular choice for street-facing homes and ground-floor offices.
Safety & Security
Reinforces glass to resist shattering from storms, accidents, or break-ins. Given hurricane season in Hampton Roads, this is a smart addition for both homes and businesses looking for an extra layer of protection.
Decorative
Frosted or patterned finishes that add privacy or style without blocking natural light. Common in conference rooms, bathrooms, and glass office partitions — and easy to customize to your space.
Ceramic
Our premium option, combining the best heat rejection, UV protection, and clarity in one film. The right choice when you want maximum performance without any trade-offs.

GT Tinting LLC installs Edge by Hüper Optik ceramic film, rejecting up to 58% of total solar energy and over 99% of UV rays. That means cooler interiors during hot weather, lower air conditioning costs, and no more hotspots from untreated glass. Exact performance depends on your specific glass type, which is exactly why our team checks that first.
Sunlight doesn't just heat a room, it fades flooring, furniture, and merchandise over time. Our film blocks up to 99% of harmful UV rays, protecting what's inside your home or business without changing how your windows look from the outside.
Tinted windows make it harder to see into your home or business from outside, without sacrificing the natural light coming in. GT Tinting LLC installs Edge reflective film with up to 56% exterior light reflectance and 99%+ UV rejection: strong daytime privacy without losing visibility from the inside looking out. For businesses, that means sensitive work stays out of view. For homes, it means a more private, secure feeling space , especially valuable in busier neighborhoods.

The first step in our installation process is thoroughly preparing your windows to ensure a flawless application. We'll need access to each window inside your home or office, so keep this in mind when scheduling our arrival. We start by cleaning the glass to remove any dirt, dust, or residue that could interfere with the film's adhesion — this step is crucial, since it prevents bubbles and ensures the film adheres smoothly and evenly. We work efficiently and quietly during prep to minimize disruption to your property.
Once the window surfaces are clean, the next step is to measure each pane accurately and cut the tint film to match its exact dimensions. This custom fitting is vital for a seamless look and optimal performance. The film is typically cut slightly larger than the window, then meticulously trimmed during installation to ensure perfect edge to edge coverage without any unsightly gaps.
With prep complete and the film cut to size, we apply the perfectly customized film to your property's windows. We use a solution that helps position the film and activates the adhesive, then carefully smooth it over the glass to remove any air bubbles, wrinkles, or surface unevenness — ensuring it lies perfectly flat. Once the film is set, we clean up the area, removing any installation debris and leaving you with flawlessly tinted windows.
Generally, no — but it depends on your glass type. Some window manufacturers have specific film compatibility requirements, especially for Low-E coated or dual-pane glass. This is exactly why we identify your glass type before recommending a film, so you get a product that's safe for your specific windows and won't create warranty issues.
Yes, but only during the day. Reflective privacy film relies on the natural difference in brightness between inside and outside — during daylight, the outside is brighter, so the film lets you see out clearly while anyone outside just sees a mirrored surface. Edge reflective film pairs this with 99%+ UV rejection.
At night, that brightness flips — once it's dark outside and your lights are on inside, the room becomes the brighter side, so visibility can reverse just like it would with any window. If nighttime privacy matters just as much to you, let us know when you book, and we'll recommend film or window treatment combinations built for round-the-clock coverage.
With professional installation and the right film for your glass, quality architectural film typically lasts well over a decade. Cheaper or improperly matched film can fail much sooner — bubbling, peeling, or discoloring — which is why film-to-glass compatibility and installation quality both matter more than people expect.
Edge backs its film with a limited lifetime warranty, valid for as long as you own and live in the property where it's installed. This covers manufacturer defects — bubbling, peeling, cracking, or discoloration — on the Silver, Pristine, Ultraview, Cool Alloy, Nature, and Bronze lines. Edge also separately covers thermal glass breakage caused by the film for 5 years, and seal failure for 3 years, when the film is installed according to their glass compatibility guidelines.
For added peace of mind, GT Tinting also offers Titanium and Platinum warranty upgrades for an additional fee, with more coverage details. Ask us about these options when you get your quote.
A few things worth knowing about the standard warranty: it isn't transferable to a new owner if you sell the property, and it excludes the Safety/Security, Graffiti, Exterior, and Decorative film lines, which carry different terms. It must also be registered within 30 days of installation — we'll make sure you have what you need to do that.
